Wickens Back On Top: With a championship title, three victories, and 13 podium finishes since returning to racing with hand controls, Robert Wickens has proven he belongs among the elite in professional motorsports.
Last month at Long Beach, he delivered another powerful statement. Driving the #36 Corvette Z06 GT3.R for DXDT Racing, Wickens clocked the second-fastest time of the entire weekend, leading the charts in the second practice session.
His remarkable comeback story continues to inspire audiences worldwide. In just the past two months, 133 media outlets have featured stories on Wickens, reflecting the growing global interest in his journey.
Proven Pedigree: It’s easy to forget that DXDT Racing are in their maiden season in the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship. Although they are searching for their first podium in IMSA, they’ve won eleven times over the last year in the GT World Challenge America series, including their victory recently at COTA. Eight of the teams 11 victories were with Alec Udell driving. Udell set a series record winning eight races in a row in 2024 alongside Tommy Milner driving the Corvette Z06 GT3.R.
Past Podiums: Both Alec Udell and Robert Wickens are familiar with the podium at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. While competing in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, Udell finished third in 2021 and Wickens scored back-to-back third-place finishes in 2023 and 2024.

Alec Udell: “Laguna is an awesome place. The Corvette Z06 GT3R was strong there last year, looking forward to see what it brings. Our primary goal is to come home with a win this season. Everyone on the team has been working super hard and we’re scratching at that. The step up has been a challenge, which we knew it would be, and we’re all ready for it. The potential is there. In IMSA, competition is so stiff so you’ve got to nail everything perfectly. That’s exactly what we’re working toward.”
Robert Wickens: “Laguna can’t come soon enough! After a lot of positives at Long Beach, it’s time to put it all to good use. I learned so much in my first race weekend with the Corvette Z06 GT3.R and DXDT Racing. Long Beach was my first time racing a street circuit with hand controls, and my first time racing the Corvette Z06 GT3.R. I’ve raced at Laguna the last two years with hand controls, albeit the old system, but I know what to expect and those familiarities should help us at Laguna.
